USP and Japanese University celebrate cooperation agreement
The first Cooperation Agreement between the University of São Paulo (USP) and Fujita Health University (FHU) was signed on April 1, 2017, in Fujita, Japan, aiming at establishing an academic cooperation between both institutions.
Representing USP, Prof. Dr. Linamara Rizzo Battistella, Full Professor of the Department of Legal Medicine, Medical Ethics, Social and Occupational Medicine at FMUSP, Prof. Dr. Marta Imamura, from the same Department, and Prof. Dr. Arturo Forner Cordero, Professor of the Department of Mechatronics and Mechanical Systems of USP Polytechnic School. Prof. Dr. Rui Imamura, Collaborating Professor of the Department of Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology, FMUSP, and Dr. Marcel Simis, Researcher responsible for the Neuromodulation and Rehabilitation Laboratory of IMREA HCFMUSP, also participated in the mission to FHU.
The initial interests that led to the establishment of the Cooperation Agreement are in the field of rehabilitation of people with disabilities in general and in cases of stroke in particular, especially dysphagia, neuromodulation, and robotics applied to rehabilitation.
During the signing ceremony, all those involved in the agreement reiterated the need to strengthen the partnership between universities. The ceremony was followed by a research symposium held on April 2, in which the most recent results of the research conducted in each institution were presented.
